the honourable MRS. IFEYINWA OBEGOLU AN Abuja-based
constitutional Lawyer vast in Human Rights advocacy and has done
several pro-bono cases for the defence of human rights and who brought
Human Rights violations and the need to comprehensively provide
effective remedial redress and resolution to the front burners of
public discuss and who was a lead counsel in the trial of some police
operatives alleged to have murdered six traders in Apo-Abuja [popularly
known as Apo six case], an act which signposted the height of grave
human rights violations in Nigeria believes that; ‘Human Rights
are sacred and inalienable. Right to life, freedom from torture
and respect for the dignity of the human person are the essential
elements for the institutionalization of Good Governance and democracy
in Nigeria. Government officials and all players in the various
segments of the Nigerian society including members of the civil
society and the organized private sector ought to view and accept
the fact that the respect to the Human Rights of all persons is
sacrosanct. The promotion and protection of Human Rights leads to
a better, transparent, accountable and progressive society’.
